1) Tell us a little about your life.
I have a post-graduate degree in botany and worked as an assistant teacher for a few years. In 2015, I moved to Seattle from India along with my husband. At that time, I didn’t have a work permit, and I was busy taking care of my child. As time passed by, I felt like I was not doing anything and wasting my time. Last year, I attended a coding workshop which made me think about changing my career to tech.

2) What made you decide to apply for Techtonica?
On Twitter, I came across Techtonica and read their mission statement, which resonated with me. Techtonica is helping women and non-binary adults get their dream job in the tech industry. Most boot camps just focus on providing study materials, but Techtonica helps with writing résumés and interview preparation. Techtonica also has good industry connections and provides access to jobs through sponsorship. Last but not least, after the program, we can also volunteer at Techtonica by mentoring others to get their dream tech job.

3) What are you most excited to learn while at Techtonica
I am very excited to learn full-stack development (PERN stack) and develop an app. I would like to learn how to crack interviews, write better résumés, and build my portfolio. I don’t have much communication with the outside world, so I love to collaborate with my cohort and share ideas.

4) What do you want to contribute to or change about the tech industry?
Without a college degree and work experience, entering the tech industry is very difficult. I would like to give more opportunities for entry-level developers. I would like to support the Returnship program, especially for women. This way we can overcome the gender gap in the tech industry.

5) What’s your dream project?
Right now, I have no idea. I would like to spend more time learning about technology. I am thinking of creating an app that is user-friendly and responsive.
